CUTTER

A cutter is thrown with fastball mechanics and should hold velocity close to 4-seam fastball.

The pitch should have late and sharp glove side movement.

The pitch is an effective option that is easier to throw for strikes while inducing weak contact.

A cutter should be held like a 4-seamer but with slightly more pressure on the middle finger. The grip can also be offset to the middle finger side of the ball, as illustrated. This imparts a slight tilt to the axis of the ball upon release.
