FAQS

Frequently asked questions

Q: Why Are Certain Pitches Not Included in the Youth Version?
At Put Me In, Coach!, player safety comes first.

Breaking balls like curveballs, sliders, and conventional sinkers place too much stress on young arms, risking injury. That’s why the Youth Version only teaches pitches using fastball mechanics—a natural, forward-and-down motion that's safer for growing athletes.

Youth pitches include:

  • 4-Seam Fastball – Straight with maximum lift

  • 2-Seam Fastball – Slight natural drop

  • Cut Fastball - Glove-side movement caused by a slight tilt of the axis of the ball

  • 1-Seam Sinker – Fastball mechanics with extra drop (no twisting)

All pitches are carefully chosen to protect young players, teach proper form, and build a strong pitching foundation for the future.

Q: What makes "Put Me In, Coach!" different from other pitching targets?
A: Our target offers more features, greater durability, and a lower cost than any other on the market. It's lightweight, field-ready in seconds, provides instant audible feedback, and includes built-in pitch instruction with video tutorials.

Q: How durable is the pitching target?
A: Extremely durable! It's made from 1/8" thick polycarbonate thermoplastic—the same material used in astronaut helmets. It easily withstands pitches thrown at 100+ mph (even up to 120 mph).

Q: What sizes are available?
A: Two versions are available:

  • Youth: 17" x 24"

  • High School/College: 17" x 30"
Both maintain a true-to-game 17” width strike zone.

Q: What pitches are included on the target?
A:

  • Youth Version: 4-seam fastball, 2-seam fastball, cut fastball, changeup, and 1-seam sinker (See Player Safety Note below)

  • High School/College Version: Adds curveball and slider to the list.

Q: How does the audible "pop" work?
A: When a pitch hits the target, it makes a distinctive "pop" sound, just like an umpire calling a strike. If there’s no sound, it's a ball. It's simple, accurate, and removes any guesswork.

Q: Is it easy to adjust for different batter heights?
A: Yes! Our quick-adjust hook system lets players instantly reposition the target up or down to match the batter’s height.

Q: Can it be used for solo training and group drills?
A: Absolutely! Practice alone using the 9-zone grid, or gamify it with multiple players for competitive drills, pitcher/hitter duels, and team bullpen sessions.

Q: How portable is it?
A: Incredibly portable—just over 2 pounds! No heavy frames or bulky equipment. It easily hangs on fences or nets and sets up in under 10 seconds with the included secure-latch S-hooks.

Q: What comes with the pitching target?
A: Each system includes:

  • 1 PMIC Pitching Target (Youth or High School version)

  • Printed pitch instructions and grip illustrations

  • QR codes linking to video tutorials by a Pitching Coach and Director of Player Development for a NCAA Division 1 baseball program.

  • Secure-latch S-hooks for fast, easy setup

Q: Where can I use the pitching target?
A: It’s perfect for chain link fencing at baseball fields, indoor training facilities, tennis courts, or even your backyard!

Q: Is the product available in a fast pitch softball version?
A: A fast pitch softball version of the product will be introduced in the summer of 2025.

Q: Is the product patented?
A: A patent application has been filed with the US Patent Office. International patent protection is also being considered.

Player Safety Note:

At Put Me In, Coach, player safety is our top priority. We avoid teaching high-torque pitches like the conventional sinker, which can harm young pitchers with developing bones, growth plates, ligaments, and tendons. Even our high school program excludes the traditional slider, opting instead for safer alternatives. Our one-seam sinker, thrown with straightforward fastball mechanics and a seam orientation that maximizes natural drop with minimal lift, is a prime example. All five of our featured pitches mimic a 4-seam fastball’s appearance but vary in movement due to unique seam orientations and axis tilts. Designed to reduce arm stress compared to curveballs, sliders, or conventional sinkers, these pitches use consistent, repeatable mechanics for better control and unpredictable ball movement. This approach helps pitchers throw more strikes while keeping batters guessing.

“I’ve used a lot of pitching tools over the years, but nothing comes close to the versatility of this one. We’ve used it for pitching, hitting drills, and even fielding accuracy challenges. It’s portable, durable, and a favorite with my entire team.”
