PLAYER SAFETY NOTE FOR 1-SEAM SINKER

At Put Me In, Coach, player safety is our top priority. We avoid teaching high-torque pitches like the conventional sinker, which can harm young pitchers with developing bones, growth plates, ligaments, and tendons. Even our high school program excludes the traditional slider, opting instead for safer alternatives. Our one-seam sinker, thrown with straightforward fastball mechanics and a seam orientation that maximizes natural drop with minimal lift, is a prime example. All five of our featured pitches mimic a 4-seam fastball’s appearance but vary in movement due to unique seam orientations and axis tilts. Designed to reduce arm stress compared to curveballs, sliders, or conventional sinkers, these pitches use consistent, repeatable mechanics for better control and unpredictable ball movement. This approach helps pitchers throw more strikes while keeping batters guessing.
